A car stops suddenly in front of you. Your car has anti-lock brakes (ABS). How should you brake?
Correct answer: Push hard on the pedal, hold it down and steer around the car if needed.
Why
Many drivers learned to pump the brakes to prevent wheel lockup, but ABS does this for you. Because ABS shortens a stop only a little, keep a safe following distance and do not take extra risks. In a car without ABS, you may have to pump the brakes on ice to keep the ability to steer.
