Jordan is 16 and got a probationary license 3 months ago. At 12:30 a.m., Jordan wants to drive alone from a friend's house to Jordan's home. The trip does not start at school or work. What does Wisconsin law allow?
Correct answer: Jordan may not drive alone now, because the trip is not between home, school and work.
Why
Night driving is riskier for new drivers because of darkness, fatigue and impaired drivers on the road. From 12 midnight to 5 a.m., Wisconsin lets a restricted driver drive only between home, school and work, or with a parent, a guardian or a qualified adult in the seat beside the driver. A violation adds 6 more months to the restrictions, or until age 18 if that comes first.
