What to expect in Wisconsin

Two separately scored official components

Wisconsin publishes a 15-question Highway Signs Test requiring 12 correct and a 50-question Knowledge Test requiring 40 correct. Each component minimum must be met; one component cannot offset a failure in the other.

Official source

Published duration is approximate

WisDOT says the 50-question Knowledge Test takes about 45 minutes, but it does not publish a universal combined time limit or universal answer-choice count for both components.

Official source

Practice mock preserves both minimums

This practice mock uses the published 15-sign and 50-rule composition and requires at least 12 sign answers and 40 rules answers correct. The displayed 52-correct floor is only the arithmetic consequence of those independent minimums.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Wisconsin Class D Knowledge practice test free?

Yes. All 230 questions, with their answers and explanations, are free, and so are the 5 numbered practice tests. You do not need an account to practise. You get 1 free exam simulation, and 2 with a free account. A free account also keeps your progress on all your devices. The optional Exam Pass is a one-time payment for one test and 90 days, not a subscription. It adds practice tools: practice by topic, practice of missed and saved questions until you get them right, more exam simulations, a timed exam simulator and a chance-to-pass score.
