Passing target: 80% (52/65)
A police car with flashing lights follows you. You pull over to the right side of the road and stop. The officer gets out and walks toward your car. What should you do?
Blue A and black-and-white police SUV B are stopped on the right shoulder facing east. B’s light bar flashes; the card says the officer is approaching. No driver hand or belt response is visible.
Correct answer: Stay in your seat with the belt on, and keep your hands on top of the steering wheel.
Why
When you see flashing police lights behind you, pull off to the right side of the road. Put the car in park, turn off the engine and the radio, and roll down your window. Keep your hands in plain sight, and do not argue if you get a ticket, because you can tell your concerns to a judge or court later. When you stay calm and follow the officer's directions, the stop is safer for everyone.
