Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You are stopped at a crossing with two sets of tracks. A long freight train passes, and its last car clears the crossing. What should you do before you go?
A waits before two separate sets of railroad tracks after a train has passed. A separate inset shows the U.S. crossbuck face.
Correct answer: Look and listen again for a train on the other track, then go when all are clear.
Why
At a crossing with more than one track, a second train can come from either direction, and the first train may hide it from view. After a train passes, look and listen again, and cross only when every track is clear and the signals have stopped. Never stop on a track, and never drive onto a crossing unless you can clear the tracks on the other side without stopping.
