On a trip, you notice that your car's muffler and exhaust pipe have started to leak. What should you do?
Correct answer: Have it repaired right away, because required equipment must work properly.
Why
You cannot share the road safely without a safe vehicle. Wyoming law says no one may drive a vehicle on the highway unless its equipment is in good working order and the vehicle does not endanger anyone. A police officer can stop you to inspect the equipment, direct you to repair a defect right away, and fine you if the vehicle is unsafe. A leaking exhaust is especially dangerous because it can let carbon monoxide into the car.
