Which statement correctly summarizes BC’s general municipal and outside-municipality unposted speed rules?
Correct answer: 50 km/h in a municipality and 80 km/h outside one
Why
BC’s general default is 50 km/h on a highway in a municipality and 80 km/h outside. The Act also specifies treaty-land and Nisg̱a’a locations. A municipal lane no more than eight metres wide has a 20 km/h limit where the required bylaw applies, without needing a sign. Posted or otherwise applicable special limits and safe-condition duties still apply.
