Passing target: 15 correct signs and 15 correct rules
A marked police vehicle uses its siren and emergency lights to direct you to stop. Stopping at the right edge here would be unsafe. What does Georgia law allow?
Correct answer: Signal, obey the speed limit, and go on to a safe spot.
Why
Normally, move promptly and without impeding traffic to the right edge, clear of an intersection, and stop. If that would leave you in an unsafe location, Georgia law permits you to display flashing lights or a turn signal, observe the posted maximum speed, and continue to a reasonably safe location. Stop there and remain until the officer directs otherwise. This exception took effect July 1, 2026.
