Passing target: 15 correct signs and 15 correct rules
A lane is marked with a white diamond and HOV signs. What should a driver check before using it?
An elongated white outline diamond is painted in the left HOV lane of an eastbound freeway. A solid white striped buffer separates it from the ordinary right lane, where blue A remains. Lane-designation signs outside the crop determine which vehicles may use the reserved lane.
Correct answer: The posted occupancy, eligible-vehicle and time restrictions.
Why
A white diamond identifies a high-occupancy or otherwise restricted lane. Read its signs for occupancy, eligible vehicles and operating times. Do not confuse an HOV lane with a tolled Express Lane; route-specific toll and registration rules must also be obeyed. Since September 30, 2025, an alternative-fuel plate alone does not permit a solo driver to use Georgia HOV lanes; those passenger vehicles also need at least two occupants.
