Passing target: 15 correct signs and 15 correct rules
A center lane is bordered on both sides by a solid yellow line beside a broken yellow line, with alternating left-turn arrows. How may a driver use it?
A three-lane two-way road has an empty shared center lane. Solid yellow lines are outside, beside the through lanes; broken yellow lines are inside, beside the shared lane. Opposite white left-turn arrows mark the shared lane. Blue A faces east and silver B faces west in their own through lanes.
Correct answer: Only for a left turn, entering no more than 300 feet before it.
Why
A shared center turn lane serves left turns from either direction. Enter no more than 300 feet before your left turn and do not travel in the lane for more than 300 feet. Check for opposing drivers entering it. Do not use it to pass, travel through, or accelerate into through traffic.
