Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
On a two-way roadway with adjacent curbs, how close should the right-hand wheels ordinarily be to the right curb?
An empty two-way roadway has a yellow centerline and concrete curbs on both sides. No parked car, wheel position or measured gap appears.
Correct answer: Parallel to and within 18 inches of the curb.
Why
For ordinary right-curb parking, place the right wheels parallel to and within 18 inches of the curb. Local rules may permit left-curb parking on a one-way road or angle parking. Those exceptions do not change the stated two-way, right-curb situation.
