Passing target: 80% (32/40)
On a highway with two travel lanes in your direction, you approach a parked roadside vehicle using legally authorized warning lights. What must you do?
Blue car A approaches a black-and-white police SUV B stopped on the paved right shoulder with red and blue warning lights flashing. Two same-direction travel lanes are visible; the left lane is clear.
Correct answer: Move over a lane if safe; otherwise slow to a safe speed.
Why
Move into a lane not adjacent to the parked warning-light vehicle if safety and traffic allow. If the lane change is not possible, slow to a reasonably safe speed. On a two-lane road, or whenever changing lanes is unsafe, maintain a speed safe for the road conditions. Do not enter opposing traffic or use the shoulder to force a lane change.
