You park an ordinary car uphill beside the curb on the right side of the road. Which way should the front wheels point?
Car A faces uphill with the curb on its right. The small road-profile diagram shows the slope. The car is shown before its front wheels are set for parking.
Correct answer: To the left, so a rollback would bring the tire against the curb
Why
When parked uphill beside a right-side curb, turn the front wheels left, away from the curb, so a backward roll brings a tire against it. Set the parking brake and secure the transmission. Downhill beside that curb uses the opposite wheel direction; without a curb, turn toward the roadside to keep a roll away from traffic.
