You press the brake pedal, and it suddenly sinks all the way to the floor. The car does not slow down. What should you try first?
A reference view shows the brake and accelerator pedals. The question card says the brake pedal has sunk to the floor without slowing the car.
Correct answer: Pump the brake pedal quickly to build up pressure
Why
The parking brake works only the rear brakes, so it stops the car more slowly and can make it skid if you pull it hard. A pedal that sinks slowly is an early warning sign, and a warning light may come on. Have the brakes checked before you drive again.
