Passing target: 80% (24/30)
Your car loses power while you drive on an interstate freeway. You can still steer. What should you do?
Blue car A remains in the freeway’s right lane while losing power; the paved shoulder lies beside it. There is no shoulder route or stopping position.
Correct answer: Steer onto the shoulder, far from traffic, and turn on the hazard lights
Why
You may stop on an interstate only in an emergency, and running out of fuel does not count as one. Raise the hood or tie a white cloth to the antenna or a door handle to show that you need help. If you have flares or reflectors, put them 100 to 500 feet behind the car on the right edge of the road.
