Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You are in the right lane of a highway with two lanes in your direction. A tow truck with flashing lights is stopped on the right shoulder ahead. A car is beside you in the left lane, so you cannot change lanes safely. What should you do?
A is in the right of two highway lanes. Silver B is beside it in the left lane, and a tow truck with flashing warning lights is stopped on the right shoulder ahead.
Correct answer: Slow down to a safe speed and pass the tow truck with care, staying in your lane
Why
The Move Over Law protects people who work next to moving traffic. On a road with two lanes in your direction, move to the lane farthest from the stopped vehicle when you can do it safely. On a road with more than two lanes in your direction, the law asks you to leave a full empty lane between you and the stopped vehicle when possible. The same rule applies to a stalled car with its hazard lights on or with people outside it.
