Your left-turn arrow turns green. A car from the cross street entered on its yellow light and is still crossing the intersection in front of you. What should you do?
A waits to turn left while cross-street B is still inside the junction. The card states A’s new green arrow and B’s prior entry.
Correct answer: Let the car clear the intersection first, and then make your left turn
Why
A green arrow usually gives a protected turn, because traffic that could cross your path has a red light. But a driver who entered late, or a pedestrian who is still in the crosswalk, can be in your path when the arrow comes on. Always look before you start the turn, even on a green arrow.
