You want to turn right at the next corner. A marked bicycle lane runs between your lane and the curb. No bicyclist is close. What is the correct way to turn?
Blue car A is in the traffic lane before a corner; a broken white line marks the curbside bike lane. A has not entered it, and no turn route is drawn.
Correct answer: Signal, move into the bicycle lane shortly before the corner, then turn
Why
When you enter the bike lane first, a bicyclist cannot ride up on your right side while you turn. Check your mirror and blind spot before you move over. Bicycles are legal vehicles with the same rights as other vehicles on Minnesota roads.
