Freeways & High-Speed RoadsStandalone practice
Traffic is light and the weather is clear on a Missouri interstate. What is the slowest speed you may lawfully drive?
Correct answer: 40 mph
Why
Large speed differences cause crashes, so Missouri sets a 40 mph minimum on interstates. You may go slower only when weather, traffic or road conditions make 40 mph unsafe, for example in heavy snow. On any road, even one with no posted minimum, it is unlawful to drive so slowly that you block the normal flow of traffic.
