Passing target: 80% (20/25)
Ahead on your right, a car is parked with a person in the driver's seat. An oncoming car will meet you at about the same spot. What is the best way to manage the space around you?
A approaches occupied car C parked directly along the right curb. B approaches in the opposing lane and will meet A near C.
Correct answer: Slow down so the oncoming car passes first, then give the parked car extra room.
Why
When two hazards meet at one spot, change your speed so that you deal with them one at a time. Parked cars need extra space because a door can open, a person can step out, or the car can pull away from the curb. The same idea applies to bicyclists and pedestrians: let oncoming traffic pass first, then give them plenty of room.
