You are driving with your 18-month-old nephew. Under current Montana law, how must he ride?
Correct answer: In a rear-facing child safety seat that meets federal safety standards
Why
Montana's child restraint law was updated in 2025. A child from 2 up to 4 rides in a rear-facing or forward-facing seat with a harness, and a child from 4 up to 8 rides in a harness seat or a booster used with a lap and shoulder belt. Never put a rear-facing seat in front of an active air bag, and keep children under 13 in the back seat when you can.
