Freeways & High-Speed RoadsStandalone practice
You are on the interstate, and your exit is coming up on the right. When should you begin to slow down?
A approaches an exit lane on the right side of a divided roadway.
Correct answer: After you move onto the exit ramp, having signaled before you leave the lane
Why
Crashes often happen when drivers go much slower than the traffic around them. When you leave a high-speed road that has exit ramps, signal early and hold your speed until you are on the ramp, where you can slow down without holding up traffic. Montana law requires a signal before you move right or left and before you stop or slow suddenly.
