Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You are driving on a divided highway with a wide grass median. A school bus on the other roadway, going the opposite way, stops with its red lights flashing. What must you do?
A and a stopped school bus are on opposite roadways separated by a grass median. The bus displays its red warning lights.
Correct answer: Continue without stopping, but watch for children near the road
Why
A median or barrier that divides a highway into separate roadways changes the school bus rule. Drivers on the other roadway need not stop, while traffic behind the bus on its own roadway must still stop. You also need not stop for a bus in a loading zone beside a controlled-access highway where pedestrians may not cross; on an undivided road, traffic in both directions stops.
