Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You are stopped at a crossing that has two sets of tracks and only crossbuck signs. A train passes on the near track. What should you do before you cross?
A waits before two railroad tracks at a crossing controlled only by crossbuck signs. A card states that a train has just passed on the near track.
Correct answer: Wait until the train is well down the track, and then make sure no train is coming on either track.
Why
Do not assume that no train is coming, even at a crossing where you have never seen one; that belief causes many deaths at crossings. Montana law does not let you go on while a train is close to the crossing and in plain view, and you may cross only when it is safe. A sign below the crossbuck shows how many tracks the crossing has.
