Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
You are driving on a street with no traffic signal. A pedestrian has started across the marked crosswalk ahead, in your half of the road. What must you do?
A approaches a marked crosswalk without signals. A pedestrian is crossing the half of the road used by A.
Correct answer: Slow down or stop, and let the pedestrian cross in front of you
Why
If another vehicle has stopped at a crosswalk, do not pass it; a pedestrian may be crossing in front of it where you cannot see. Stop back from the crosswalk so that other drivers can also see the person. Pedestrians have duties too: they may not step off the curb suddenly into the path of a vehicle that is too close to stop.
