Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You are behind a slow pickup truck on a two-lane road. The center line has a solid yellow line on your side and a broken yellow line on the other side. What does this marking tell you?
A follows a pickup on a two-way road. The yellow line beside A is solid, while the other yellow line is broken.
Correct answer: You may not cross the center line to pass the truck here
Why
No-passing zones are marked where the view ahead is too short for a safe pass, such as near hills, curves, and intersections. You may still cross a solid yellow line to turn left into a driveway, parking lot, or road when it is safe. Montana law also lets you pass a bicycle that is going less than half the speed limit in a no-passing zone, but only if the view ahead is clear and you stay within the limit.
