You are in the left lane of a road with three lanes in your direction, and you want to move to the center lane. You have signaled, checked your mirrors and looked over your right shoulder, and the center lane is clear. What should you also check before you move?
A occupies the left of three same-direction lanes and B occupies the right. The center lane between them is empty.
Correct answer: That no driver in the right lane is also about to move into the center lane.
Why
The manual's lane-change steps are: signal, check the inside and side mirrors, look over your shoulder at the blind spot, check for drivers who may move into the same lane, and then change lanes. Nebraska law says you must not leave your lane until you have made sure that the move is safe. Never change lanes in an intersection.
