Passing target: 80% (20/25)
You are in the left lane of the interstate. Your exit ramp is just ahead on the right, and you cannot safely move over in time. What should you do?
A is in the left interstate lane as its exit branches to the right. Cars in the right lane leave no safe opening to reach it.
Correct answer: Go on to the next exit, then find a route back from there.
Why
Freeway traffic moves fast and does not expect a vehicle to stop, back up or turn around. Nebraska law bans turning to go the opposite way on a freeway, using a median crossover meant for emergency vehicles, and backing on a freeway roadway or shoulder. To avoid missing an exit, watch the exit signs and get into the correct lane at least a mile before the exit.
