Passing target: 80% (20/25)
On a two-lane road, a motorcycle rides on the left side of its lane. There seems to be enough room for your car to pass beside it in the same lane. What should you do?
B rides near the left portion of its lane on a two-way road. A approaches from behind in that lane.
Correct answer: Treat it like a car: pass only in the other lane, when it is safe and legal.
Why
The manual tells drivers to allow a motorcyclist a full lane width and not to share the lane. A rider needs that space to steer around potholes, gravel, and wind gusts. Current Nebraska law also treats motorcyclists as vulnerable road users: slow down when you pass one on a road with one lane each way, and move into a lane away from the rider when your direction has two or more lanes.
