You are waiting to turn left out of a side street. A motorcycle is coming on the main road with its right turn signal flashing. What should you do?
A waits at a side-street STOP sign before a left turn. B, a motorcycle on the main road, has its right signal flashing.
Correct answer: Wait until you are sure the rider is really turning before you pull out.
Why
Many motorcycle turn signals do not cancel by themselves, and riders sometimes forget to switch them off, so a flashing signal does not prove the rider will turn. Motorcycles are small and their speed is hard to judge, and a vehicle turning left in front of a motorcyclist is a common cause of motorcycle crashes. Wait until the motorcycle actually starts its turn, or has passed, before you pull out.
