Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
You approach a red eight-sided STOP sign at an intersection. No stop line is painted, but a marked crosswalk crosses your lane. Where must you stop?

Correct answer: Before the crosswalk; then yield to cross traffic before you enter
Why
Nebraska sets the stopping point in order: at the stop line; if there is none, before the crosswalk; if there is no crosswalk, at the point nearest the cross road where you can see approaching traffic. This keeps your car out of the path of people on foot. After the stop, vehicles already in the intersection or close to it go first. The eight-sided shape is used only for STOP signs.
