Weather, Visibility & EmergenciesStandalone practice
Your car gets stuck in deep snow during a blizzard on a rural road, far from town. What should you do?
Correct answer: Stay with the car, keep the tailpipe clear, and run the engine only briefly with a window cracked.
Why
A blizzard combines poor visibility, slippery roads, and sudden wind gusts, so the manual advises against driving in one at all. If you are stranded, a blocked tailpipe or closed windows can let exhaust gas build up inside the car, and running the engine only sparingly also saves fuel. If more than one person is in the car, take turns sleeping while someone keeps watch.
