Weather, Visibility & EmergenciesStandalone practice
Fog has cut visibility to less than 1/4 mile. Your route uses a highway posted at 55 mph. What does the Nebraska manual advise?
Correct answer: Avoid traveling on roads posted at 40 mph or more until the visibility improves.
Why
At highway speeds you need a long distance to see a hazard and stop, and thick fog takes that distance away. Other drivers may also be moving too fast for what they can see. If you must drive, choose slower roads, use low beams, and keep your speed low enough to stop within the distance you can see.
