Passing target: 80% (20/25)
Your engine starts to fail while you drive on a freeway, but the car is still rolling. What is the safest plan?
Blue A’s engine is losing power while A remains in the right freeway lane. The right shoulder is clear.
Correct answer: Move onto the shoulder, turn on the flashers, and stay in or near the car away from traffic
Why
Outside towns, Nevada law requires you to stop off the main part of the highway when you can. If possible, get all four wheels off the pavement, and at night or in poor visibility keep the flashers or parking lights on. A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper will stop to help a driver who stays with the car. Do not stop on a freeway except in an emergency.
