Sharing the RoadStandalone practice
You drive on a rural road with no sidewalks. A man is walking along the edge of the road on your side, coming toward you. What should you do?
Blue A travels south in the west lane of a road without sidewalks. North-facing pedestrian B walks toward A at the west roadside, on A’s side.
Correct answer: Slow down and give him as much room as you safely can, since he walks where he should.
Why
Walking against traffic lets a pedestrian see approaching cars and step aside. Drivers must still watch for people on or near the road, especially at night, when pedestrians are hard to see. Be extra careful when children are near the road, because they may not follow the rules.
