Passing target: 80% (20/25)
You are in the right lane at a red light and want to turn right onto a two-way street. No sign prohibits the turn. What must you do?
A approaches a steady red signal in the right lane and plans a right turn. There is no prohibition sign and no selected turning path before answering.
Correct answer: Stop completely, then turn when pedestrians and traffic are clear.
Why
Two common mistakes are a rolling stop and a look only to the left. Pedestrians may be crossing in front of you, and bicyclists may come from either direction. Signal, stop completely behind the line, look left, ahead and right, and turn only when the path is clear. A NO TURN ON RED sign or a red arrow removes this permission.
