You drive on a two-lane road with no median. A school bus coming toward you stops, and its red lights start to flash. What must you do?
Blue A approaches a school bus from the opposite direction on an undivided two-lane road. The bus has flashing red lights.
Correct answer: Stop, and stay stopped until the bus driver turns off the flashing red lights.
Why
Children who get on or off a school bus may cross the road, and drivers may not see them near the bus. On a road without a median, the flashing red lights tell traffic from both directions to stop. A bus driver can report a driver who passes illegally to the school district and the DMV.
