It is a school day. You drive on a street next to a school, and the yellow beacons on the school-zone speed sign are flashing. What is the maximum speed you may drive through the zone?
Correct answer: 15 mph
Why
Nevada has two school limits: 15 mph in a school zone next to school property and 25 mph in a school crossing zone on a walking route. Since July 1, 2026, the city, county or NDOT decides when each zone is active, and the sign shows it with posted hours, the words "when children are present," or flashing beacons. When the beacons are dark during class hours, the normal limit applies again. Violations in an active zone carry extra penalties, so slow down early and watch for children.
