Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
Near an intersection, a solid white line separates your lane from the next lane going the same way. A slow car is ahead of you. What should you do?
A approaches an intersection behind slower B. A solid white line separates A’s lane from the other lane going the same way.
Correct answer: Stay in your lane, and do not change lanes or pass across the solid line.
Why
Solid lane lines mark places where you must keep your lane, for example on the approach to an intersection. Plan your lane choice early, and wait until the line becomes broken before you change lanes. A solid white line also marks the edge of the road and the boundary between a travel lane and the shoulder.
