Your light turns green. A car from the cross street entered on yellow and is still in the intersection, finishing its turn in front of you. What should you do?
A’s circular light has just turned green. B is inside the intersection ahead of A, finishing a turn from the cross street after entering on yellow.
Correct answer: Wait for the car to clear the intersection, then go when your path is safe.
Why
Green means you may go straight or turn unless a sign forbids the turn, but it does not clear the intersection for you. Before you start, look left, ahead and right for late vehicles, for red-light runners and for pedestrians who are still crossing. A driver who is just arriving must yield to a vehicle that is already in the intersection.
