You are close behind a tractor-trailer on a two-lane highway, and you cannot see past it. What should you do?
Blue A follows close behind a tractor-trailer that blocks its view ahead on a two-lane road.
Correct answer: Drop back well behind the truck, so that its driver can see you and you can see farther ahead.
Why
Large trucks have blind areas, called no-zones, in front, behind and on both sides, and they are much larger than a car's blind spots. A good check: if you cannot see the truck driver's face in the truck's side mirror, the driver cannot see you. Most crashes between large trucks and cars are caused by the car drivers, and the people in the car are much more likely to be hurt.
