Passing target: 80% (32/40)
On a dry, clear day, you pass this white SPEED LIMIT 45 sign. Many cars around you are going about 55 mph. Which statement about your speed is correct?

Correct answer: The limit is 45 mph, and you may not go faster even though other cars do
Why
In New Hampshire, a speed at or below the posted limit is presumed lawful only when no hazard calls for a slower speed. Rain, snow, darkness, curves, heavy traffic or people near the road can make even 45 mph too fast, because the basic rule requires a speed that is reasonable and prudent for the conditions. Some limits apply without a sign: 30 mph in business or urban residence districts and 35 mph in rural residence districts.
