Where should you hold the steering wheel for normal driving?
An unmarked steering-wheel reference is shown from the driver’s viewpoint. No hands or recommended clock positions are selected in the question image.
Correct answer: At 9 and 3 o'clock or at 8 and 4 o'clock, with thumbs outside the rim.
Why
These positions give good control and keep your arms clear of the center of the wheel, where the air bag opens. Keeping thumbs outside the rim protects them if the wheel spins suddenly. Use hand-to-hand steering for small turns and hand-over-hand steering for sharp turns.
