Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
Your street ends at a busier road, and a red-and-white YIELD sign faces you. A car on the busier road is coming close to the corner. What must you do?

Correct answer: Slow down and let the car pass, stopping first if that is needed
Why
The downward-pointing triangle is used for YIELD signs only, so you can recognize the sign by its shape alone. Under state law, if you drive past a YIELD sign without yielding and collide with a vehicle in the intersection, the crash itself is prima facie evidence that you failed to yield. When a stop is needed, make it before the crosswalk or stop line, or, if there is neither, where you can see the cross traffic.
