You are driving at night when you enter thick fog. Your car has fog lights. Which lights should you use?
A approaches thick fog after dark. The roadway and center lines lose contrast and disappear into the fog ahead; the question image does not select a light setting.
Correct answer: Low beams, with your fog lights turned on as well.
Why
In fog, high beams reflect off the water droplets in the air and make it harder to see, so use low beams and slow down. Fog lights, if your car has them, are meant to be used together with low beams, not in place of them. New Jersey law requires headlights whenever fog keeps you from clearly seeing people and vehicles 500 feet ahead. Use pavement markings and the lights of other vehicles as guides.
