Turns, Lanes, Passing & MergingStandalone practice
You are driving at the speed limit on a road with three lanes in your direction. You are not passing anyone and are not getting ready to turn left. Which lane should you normally use?
A travels in the left of three same-direction lanes with the center and right lanes available. The card states that A is not passing or preparing a left turn.
Correct answer: The lane nearest the right edge or curb, when it is available.
Why
Keeping right leaves the left lanes free for passing and for drivers setting up left turns, which reduces weaving and lane conflicts. You must also drive on the right half of the roadway, except on a one-way street. The shoulder is not a travel lane.
