Passing target: 80% (40/50)
You are in the left lane of a road with two lanes in each direction and a double solid yellow center line. The driver ahead of you stops with the left signal on, waiting to turn into a driveway. The right lane beside you is clear. What may you do?
A follows B in the left eastbound lane of a four-lane street. B is stopped to turn left into a driveway across the double yellow lines; the right eastbound lane is empty.
Correct answer: Move into the clear right lane and pass on the right when it is safe.
Why
Most passing should be on the left, so take extra care when you pass on the right: the other driver may not expect you, and you are closer to people and objects at the curb. Using the shoulder to pass is illegal, even when traffic is slow. Before you move right, check your mirror and blind spot and signal the lane change.
