Passing target: 80% (40/50)
You are driving around a wet curve when the rear of your car starts to slide to the right. What should you do?
A drives into a wet right-hand curve. A white motion arrow at the rear points toward the driver’s right, showing the onset of the rear-end skid; no correction is selected.
Correct answer: Take your foot off the gas and steer gently to the right.
Why
Skids usually start with a sudden turn, a quick lane change or hard braking on a wet or icy road. The manual says to handle a skid the same way in front-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive cars: look where you want to go and steer gently toward it. Straighten the wheels as soon as you feel the car is under control again, and slow down before curves when the road is slippery.
