Safe & Responsible DrivingStandalone practice
Your car collides with another car at an intersection. The other driver is awake but says that her neck hurts. Your car still runs. What does New Mexico law require of you?
Correct answer: Stay at the scene, call the police, give your name, address and registration, and get her medical help
Why
NMSA 66-7-201 and 66-7-203 require a driver in an injury crash to stop, stay at the scene, share identifying information and give reasonable help to the injured. NMSA 66-7-206 requires immediate notice to the police for any crash with an injury or with $500 or more in property damage. If your car can still move, get it off the road, and use flares or flashers to warn other traffic.
