Safe & Responsible DrivingStandalone practice
A driver who takes insulin for diabetes skipped lunch and feels shaky before a long drive home. What should the driver do?
Correct answer: Stay off the road while a reaction is possible; eat or get a ride.
Why
If you use insulin, do not drive at any time an insulin reaction, blackout or shock could happen; a skipped meal or a wrong dose can trigger one. Even small health problems, like a bad cold or a stiff neck, can affect driving, so let someone else drive when you are not well. New Mexico may require drivers with conditions such as epilepsy, diabetes or heart problems to send periodic medical statements from their doctors.
